What You Need To Know About Your Hair's Love Language

What You Need To Know About Your Hair's Love Language

4 minute read

Dear Diary,

With the season of love coming to a close, it’s important to remember that your hair still requires love in the coming months, too! Now, I know you’ve probably heard about your partner’s “love language” before, but have you ever thought about love language when it comes to your pretty hair?! The way you treat your both your natural hair and your clip-in extensions can make all the difference when it comes to styling with ease and a professional finish.

Lucky for you, I’ve broken down my top five items to consider when it comes to building confidence and trust for your hair - a love language we can all get behind!

Hair Masks

When it comes to self-care Sunday, you can add a little extra step to your routine by adding in a hair mask! Truth be told, this is my number one secret for keeping my locks shiny and healthy in between my visits to the salon. Hair masks will help your damaged hair feel moisturized, full, and bouncy again in a matter of no time. Plus, it’s a nice little escape from reality for 20-30 minutes to put in your hair mask, soak in the tub, and read a good book! You and your hair will thank me later, babe!

Clean Brushes

When was the last time you cleaned your brushes? If it’s been a while, don’t stress! However, it is important to take a little extra time to clean your brushes at least once a week. Why? Oils, dirt, and bacteria can build up in your brushes over time, and it’s important to keep your pretty hair free of anything that isn’t going to nourish it! All you have to do is soak them in some warm water with shampoo for one to two minutes, clear out the hair, and pat dry. It’s as simple as that, and your hair will be so grateful you gave it the little extra love it needed!

Heat Protectant

Now I know that spending money on hair products can already be stressful for some of you out there, but the most important thing you can do to protect your hair and show it some love while styling is use a heat protectant. It may seem like a simple thing you can overlook, but whether you are applying heat to your natural hair or your extensions, a heat protectant will create a thin layer around the hair shaft that helps it to not burn. Think about it this way - by using a heat protectant, you are creating a shield around your hair that will lead to less split ends and trims in the long run!

Ceramic Hot Tools

Now I know we’ve all started somewhere when it comes to our hot tools, but if you are able to, buying ceramic hot tools will make all the difference in your styling routine. Why? Pure ceramic hot tools distribute the heat evenly across your hair, allowing it to pass smoothly over each strand, rather than burning and breaking it down over time. Plus, using ceramic hot tools will give your finished look a more smooth and sleek finish!

Sulfate and Paraben-Free Shampoos + Conditioners

If you’re someone who gets their hair colored regularly, wears extensions, or ultimately just wants to have healthy and happy hair, I would highly recommend using sulfate and paraben-free shampoos and conditioners! Sulfate and paraben-free shampoos and conditioners are so important when it comes to locking in moisture and preventing damage or breakage over time. Typically when these products include sulfates and parabens, your hair is more prone to break down quicker. Trust me, taking the leap will leave you and your hair wanting more!

That’s it for now, y’all! Be sure to keep up with me on Instagram at @xobrittaldean and don’t forget to tag me in your pretty hair pics with #xobrittbabe for a chance to be featured!
