Claw Clip Styles 101

Dear Diary,

With hot new hairstyles making the headlines daily from their inspiration on the red carpet to the For You pages on TikTok, the time has never been better to be inspired and try something new!

Now, I know deciding which styles to try can be a bit overwhelming, but lucky for you, I’ve teamed up with Harper Ellis Extensions Expert Terra Harvell to break down some of the easiest styles you can achieve using this year’s biggest hair trend: claw clips.

No matter if you’re looking to rock an updo or just want something simple and clean, using claw clips to style your Xo Britt clip-ins is such a cute way to embrace this seasons’s trends!

Messy Bun

Nothing says casual but chic like a messy bun with a claw clip. Want to achieve this look? Just brush, twist and clip all your hair at the crown of your head into the shape of a donut. It’ll go from an elegant updo to a laid-back look just by leaving a few strands out in the front and back.

Want to add some extra volume? Add one of my Xo Britt Ponytails for a Pinterest-worthy bun every time!

Side Twists

This one’s for the 90s kids! Do you remember showing off this look in the summer with your favorite butterfly clips?

Well, we found a grown-up version and we’re more obsessed than ever! How to achieve this look: grab a few front strands on each side of your part, twist to the side and clip. This style is perfect for all hair lengths, types, and textures! Plus, it changes up your look without adding in too many extra steps.

Growing your hair out and have it stuck in that awkward phase but want instant length? My 22” clip-ins available are perfect for achieving supermodel length in 15 minutes!

Half Up ‘Do

Whether you have long, short, fine or curly hair, this half-up ‘do is easily achievable and by far one of the most popular styles we are seeing to date.

How to achieve this look: start by separating your hair into two sections, gathering the top half and clipping together. Let the lower section of your hair flow freely and leave some front strands out to elevate the look.

To add some color dimension or even additional volume, grab some of my individual clip-ins and let the rest of your hair speak for itself.

Low Ponytail

No hair tie? No problem. For a low pony, grab all your hair and place in your claw clip. One step and you’re ready to start your day!

Want some bonus points? Use a colorful or bedazzled claw clip - as we’ve seen from the stars themselves, accessorizing is everything this summer! Just take it from my bedazzled Xo Britt ponytail and I.

Twisted Bun

If top knots (or messy buns) aren’t your thing, consider trying out a twisted bun instead!

Start by creating a ponytail at the very back of your head, twist it around itself and secure it with your go-to claw clip. Finish off the look by pulling out a few strands at the front of your head to frame your face, and finish with hairspray. Congratulations - you’re more iconic than ever before.
